 Happy New Year Night: A Terrifying December Experience

The new year was about to begin. We were four friends. We had planned that after work, we would celebrate the new year outside on December 31, until late at night. Well, our plan was made and December 31 came.

The four of us met at around five in the evening and decided that I, Anas and Sufyan — the three of us — would go to Kamran’s house, pick him up, and then go out for a late‑night stroll.

It was ten o’clock at night. It was a winter night — and winter nights have a different kind of desolation. Well, the three of us left for Kamran’s house. Kamran lived in a very remote, deserted area, far away from the city. That’s why we were going to pick him up.

Strange Incidents on the Way to Kamran’s House

I was driving, and we were talking to each other when suddenly I felt that someone had passed in front of the car at high speed. I quickly braked, and all of us got out of the car and looked around. It was extremely cold, and the road was completely empty. We didn’t see anyone around.

We seated ourselves in the car again and set off. Sufyan said, I genuinely felt as if someone had zipped past our car.

Anas and I both replied, “Yes, man, it really felt like someone rushed by… but there was no one there.”

I told Sufyan, “Call Kamran. Tell him to be ready, we’re about to arrive.”

Sufyan called several times, but Kamran didn’t answer the phone.

Anas said, “Maybe he’s getting ready.”

I was driving when we saw someone in the car’s headlights… as if someone was holding out a hand to stop us.

But when we got closer, there was no one there.

All three of us found this very strange. I drove faster, and we reached Kamran’s house. We picked him up and left.

The Cold Night of December

The cold had increased a lot. New Year was also about to begin soon. I was driving fast, and the four of us were talking when suddenly someone came in front of the car again. I braked immediately — but again, no one was there.

This time I got out of the car and checked carefully, but there was no one.

I was still looking around when I heard Kamran shout,

“Get in the car! Hurry up!”

I got inside, and Kamran said,

“Get out of here quickly!”

The three of us asked, “What happened? Why are you so nervous?”

Kamran said in a low voice,

There's something spooky on this road... and what you just saw wasn't a human. Just get out of here quickly!”

Hearing this, I immediately started the car and sped up. We had gone some distance when the car suddenly stopped on its own.

When I tried to get out, Kamran grabbed my arm,

“Don’t get out of the car!”

I said to Kamran, Why did the car stop? Let me see.

Kamran replied,

“The car will start on its own. Just don’t step outside.”

We were talking when suddenly we heard a loud scream…

A scream — like someone in terrible pain.

It was a woman’s voice, as if she was crying out in agony.

Our hair stood on end.

Then suddenly, the sound stopped.

Me, Sufyan, and Anas looked at Kamran in shock.

Kamran said,

“This road is haunted. Ghosts roam here during winter nights. I don’t know who they are… they look like humans, but they are not humans.”

We were still talking when suddenly someone appeared in front of us.

From a distance, it looked like a human…

But as it got closer, we began trembling with fear.

Because it wasn’t a human… it was some other creature.

Human‑like… but its face and body were terrifying.

Its black eyes looked even scarier in the moonlight.

It came to our car and started sniffing, as if searching for a scent.

First, it sniffed all around the car…

Then suddenly, it began hitting the car hard.

I kept trying to start the car, but it wouldn’t start.

The creature pushed the car forcefully… it began shaking it.

We didn’t know what to do, and suddenly we saw another creature approaching us.

I tried starting the car with all my strength…

And suddenly, the car started!

I drove as fast as I could.

We could see the creature around us, as if it was trying to get close.

But I didn’t stop the car.

After some time, everything suddenly became quiet and normal again.

I stopped the car in a bright area. We drank some water.

It was twelve o’clock at night, and the New Year had started.

We celebrated, took selfies — and this night became a memory forever.

We didn’t take Kamran back to his house.

Kamran and the rest of us stayed at my house that night.

Kamran said he had heard this road was haunted… but he never imagined something like this could actually happen.

All he knew was that on winter nights, sometimes people saw someone asking for a lift… or someone passing by…

But what happened to us — was far beyond anything he imagined.

I told Kamran that the creature had been smelling our car.

Sufyan and Anas had noticed the same thing.

We went to check the car, and when we opened the trunk, a very strong smell came out.

Yesterday, I had taken my luggage, and there was a bottle of attar (perfume) in the trunk which had broken.

Maybe it was because of that scent that those creatures came towards us…

Because it is said that the ones who are attracted to scents… come very quickly.

Since that day, we never go through that road at night.

The nights of December are long and mysterious.

The elders say that other creatures are more visible on winter nights —

and winter always hides a different kind of fear.
