Annabelle is one of those stories that are based on truth. Today, let’s talk about the real story behind it. Annabelle is a doll in which a demonic entity lives. You must have watched several movies on her, but this is a real and true incident.

This story is from 1970, Hartford, Connecticut, USA. A girl named Donna, who was a nursing student, lived in an apartment with her friend Angie. On Donna’s birthday, her mother gifted her a doll made of cloth. The doll was purchased from an antique shop, and Donna cherished it deeply because it was her mother's gift. Donna kept the doll in her room. She and her friend lived alone in that apartment. Everything was normal at first, but after a few days, the doll started behaving strangely.

Mysterious Incidents in Donna’s Apartment

For example, whenever Donna and Angie came back home, the doll would be in a different position. If they left her on the bed, she would be found lying on the floor. No matter where they kept her, she would end up somewhere else. Then, one day, they started finding small pieces of paper around the house with messages written on them like "Help us," and "Help Lou." But neither Donna nor Angie had written anything like that. When they asked Lou, Donna’s friend, he also denied ever leaving such notes in their home.

One day, they suddenly found red liquid smeared on the doll. They checked the whole house but couldn’t find any source of such liquid. Then one night, Donna and Angie felt as if someone was walking and running around in the apartment, with sounds of things being messed up and moved. When they checked, the doll had changed its position again. Though it had been set in a corner, it was now mysteriously on the floor.

All these strange events scared Donna and Angie. They were confused – was it just their imagination or something real? But slowly, they began to suspect the doll. Something was definitely wrong with it.

So, they contacted a spiritual person – someone who could communicate with spirits. That person told them the doll was possessed by the spirit of a little girl named Annabelle Higgins, who had died on that very spot. The spirit wasn’t evil, just looking for love and shelter, and wouldn’t harm anyone. Feeling pity, Donna and Angie allowed the spirit to stay inside the doll.

A few days later, Lou – Donna’s friend – came to stay at their apartment. One night while he was sleeping, he suddenly woke up and saw Annabelle sitting on his legs. Step by step, she crawled onto his chest and started choking him. Lou tried his best to push her away, but somehow, this cloth doll had immense strength. Lou couldn’t remove her. His eyes began to close, and his breath stopped – and then, suddenly, everything returned to normal. Lou ran out of the room and told Donna and Angie everything. There were actual marks on his body, which proved it wasn’t a dream or imagination.

On a different day, Lou and Angie stayed home while Donna was away. They started hearing strange noises from the room, like someone walking and laughing. The sounds were terrifying. Lou and Angie bravely opened the door and found everything normal – except for Annabelle, sitting silently in the corner. Suddenly, Lou felt pain in his chest. When he looked down, he saw fresh scratch marks on his chest, as if someone had clawed at him. Blood was coming out of the wounds. Frightened, Lou and Angie rushed out of the house and later informed Donna about everything.

When the Warrens Stepped In – Paranormal Experts Join the Case

After all this, Donna decided she couldn’t take any more risk. She reached out to well-known paranormal experts, Ed and Lorraine Warren, and asked them to come over. Ed and Lorraine revealed that there wasn’t any child’s spirit inside the doll, but a demon. The goal of this demon was to use the doll as a vessel to gain access to the house and eventually possess people, harming them. Such evil spirits are cunning and can easily deceive people.

Ed and Lorraine took the doll with them in their car. On the way, they narrowly escaped several accidents. They could sense the doll’s presence and strange behavior, but they continued their prayers and kept their faith strong. The demon couldn’t harm them. Eventually, Ed and Lorraine placed the doll inside a locked glass box in their Occult Museum, with a warning sign: Do not open. To this day, Annabelle remains locked inside that museum.

The purpose of such evil spirits is only to harm people. If they are not stopped in time, a person can lose their life. She made a smart move by responding at the right time. It’s not easy to get rid of demonic forces. They feed on souls, and their only aim is to harm humans. They often possess those who are weak or broken from within.

Many movies have been made on Annabelle, but these are the real events. The most important signs were how the doll kept changing positions and how Lou was harmed – none of that could have been a coincidence.
